In 2004, Sinbad Richardson graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a BFA in Intermedia Cyberarts and also completed a degree in Philosophy. Since then his focus has been to work with bands writing and directing music videos and designing t-shirt and packaging for releases. With a background in fine arts and animation his music video work often tells well-crafted quirky stories involving colorful characters and visual style.
“I started using the name Vienna Pitts when I decided all my work should come under a single umbrella (Sinbad was already taken). I was sitting in the passenger seat of my grandfather’s Plymouth Voyager, driving down the American eastern seaboard, when we came across an exit for two towns in Georgia: Vienna and Pitts. My grandfather thought it would make an interesting name for a character in a story, somewhat of a character of contradiction as something in the name suggests. Sketchbook on my lap, I started drawing who this character might be which later become renamed to Jennifer Harris (who has become the Vienna Pitts logo and named after my first philosophy teacher in college). The name Vienna Pitts is now my creative ying yang; a balance of beauty and truth. Or, at least an attempt at that.”
